Frequently Asked Questions

 We consider ourselves family friendly, but some aspects of the rooms may not be appropriate for young children.  Due to the nature of the entertainment kids under 12 tend to not have very much fun in mystery and escape rooms. The intensity of solving a cipher or interpreting symbols just doesn’t appeal to younger kids. There are also themes that may be scary or bordering on Horror.  We recommend saving the room experiences for when they are older and can truly be part of the team. ​Please note players under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and children under age 6 are not allowed in the rooms.  

 For room games, bring your wits, your sense of fun and your ability to think outside the box. Personal items are not allowed in the rooms. They may be left in your vehicle or secured in lockers in our lobby area. All materials for successful completion of rooms are provided. 

 We welcome group bookings for our rooms, but players will be divided into groups according to the limits for each room.   

 The door is not locked, you are free to leave at any time. Leaving the room does end the game, however.

 Games are monitored by a game master who can be your knight in shining armor if you get stuck. Just ask your game master for a hint to get you headed in the right direction!

 We are accessible to the handicapped. However, some rooms may have limited access due to setting. Please call before booking and we can set you up with a room that everyone in your party will be able to enjoy.

 At Escape by the Lake, all sales are final, which means no refunds. Please be aware of that our game is a live event, so once the booking is confirmed, refunds and cancellations are not accepted. If you contact us at least 24 hours in advance, we may be able to reschedule your game to another date/time.

 Please plan to arrive 10 – 15 minutes prior to game start, so that the game can begin on time. If you arrive after the official start time, your game time will be shortened accordingly, as there will be other games after yours. 

 The current adventures are can be played by between 2 - 10 players depending upon the room. Even a single player may be successful, but we recommend at least 2 players per room.( 2 player booking is the minimum) 

 Plan for 1 hour 30 minutes to complete your Adventure. This includes signing waivers, orientation, game play (60 Minutes) including a debriefing. 

That wouldn’t be very fun, now would it? Don’t worry! Our rooms are designed so that things will make sense to you – if you need a little nudge in the right direction, that is no problem at all! Remember, If you want your score to go on the room time board, you are entitled to 3 hints, if you do not care we will provide you as many as you need, so you will surely find your way towards success! 

 There are franchised escape room companies, but ESCAPE by the Lake is a locally developed, independent business. All rooms are designed in house and much of the design is centered on custom handmade props. This ensures a one of a kind experience to our players. We are obsessed with creating unique, challenging and, most of all, fun games!
